On 13th July SK Events delivered an event, that had been taken from conception, a simple discussion started around a boardroom table, into the most spectacular uplifting live disco concert of 2018 with disco icons Sister Sledge, Britain’s most audacious orchestra, Manchester Camerata, DJ legend Mark Armstrong and support act MiC LOWRY!
The objective was to create a unique disco concert that enhanced the most iconic disco tracks and gave them a modern edge performed by a live 30 piece live orchestra, a DJ, an iconic disco band and powerful backing singers on stage. The end goal was to showcase the new disco brand Disco Classical as an event to sell into promoters from all over the country, and to build the foundations for a future tour for the concert.
SK Events were involved with the entire process from planning meetings, co-ordinating, organising, managing, marketing, auditioning and the implementation of the entire project. The SK team worked tirelessly to ensure the best artists, suppliers and contractors were used throughout to ensure that quality was not compromised, and by pulling together the very best industry experts and managing the project, it was a huge success.
All the artists and performers were booked and managed by SK Events as well as finding and liasing with the perfect venue, implementing a social media campaign and marketing and promotional strategy as well as producing the concert, designing the lighting, choosing the costumes and managing the event on site.
The concert attracted thousands of party revellers of all ages and delivered an outstanding, mesmerising performance that exceeded everyone’s expectations and has even lead to discussions with record labels for the Disco Classical brand!
Having been highly recommended as one of the best event management agencies in the North West region it was no surprise Manchester Eats asked the team to organise their first big food and drink festival in Manchester’s Heaton Park. An outdoor artisan festival, complete with some of the best international cuisine, distillates and celebrity chef demonstrations, as well as a vibrant, interactive ‘Kid’s Village’, cooking masterclasses, acoustic performances, crafty workshops, free-from alternatives and innovative market goods.
SK Events have succeeded in researching and finding the best site planner, electricians, rubbish disposal companies, marquee companies, security teams, ticket agencies, event staff, build crew, water suppliers and liaise with them throughout to ensure they are up to date with information and the correct amount of infrastructure or staff are confirmed and booked. The team were praised for their high quality varied programme of event activity for the festival by carefully researching and selecting companies local to Manchester to fulfil these roles, providing the festival with information to use for their marketing and promotion and sourcing any equipment that is required and always keeping within the festival budget. Part of SK Events role is to co-ordinate and manage the build of the festival with all nominated contractors to ensure the festival is set up to the site plan and adheres to council and health and safety regulations.
The team have an outstanding record in managing exhibitors when they arrive on site ensuring they are registered and in the correct position in a timely manner whilst eliminating any potential problems right throughout the festival operating hours and until they leave. The event activity programme is also coordinated and run to precision by the team making for a smooth and successful festival.
Beauty and The Feast
Faced with the challenge of feeding 300 people in the middle of an empty field SK Events created a pop up dining experience they entitled, ‘Beauty & the Feast’
Liverpool Food and Drink Festival team tasked SK Events to come up with an event never been done before in Liverpool to mark the launch of their 10th anniversary festival celebrations. Never ones to turn down a challenge, the team proposed an exclusive dining experience in the middle of Sefton Park hosted by celebrity chef, pop up dining advocate and beauty, Gizzi Erskine, along with a feast cooked up by outside catering company pioneers, Northern Fields and an acoustic performance from local famous band the Lightning Seeds.
The team took an empty marquee, and installed electricity, water, a back of house working kitchen, a front of house demo kitchen, heating system and posh loos! A VIP walkway lit with fire flames led the way into the marquee that was dressed with festoon lighting draping from the roof, giant flowers, beautifully dressed long banquet tables covered in vases full of wild flowers and twinkling candles.
SK events transformed a plain white marquee into a warm chic rustic dining space with an Asian inspired banquet, from this Beauty and the Feast was born. SK Events took all of the planning, organising and management stress of the event off the Liverpool Food and Drink Festival team and created an evening so special and atmospheric that it is still talked about today!

Liverpool 2 Launch
Following the success of the Ground-breaking launch of Liverpool 2, SK Events were reappointed by Peel Ports to create another spectacular event to mark the opening of North Europe’s most operationally and efficient modern container terminals. The team were given a derelict warehouse on Liverpool’s waterfront and worked above and beyond to transform the space into a very enjoyable, creative and informative high tech VIP experience for 300 guests.
SK Events co-ordinated and managed the installation of two gigantic inflatable domes which guests were led into as they arrived. The team together with a design agency created a hi tech registration and press area that led into the main reception area. Within this SK Events had co-ordinated the installation of a big shipping container that was converted into a simulator, a 50s themed band to welcome guests as they arrived, interactive models of the new port and an ipad magician. Once all guests had registered the dome was plunged into darkness and a 360 degree specially created augmented reality animated film was projected onto the dome creating a 3D effect informing guests of the new journey a shipping container could now make through the port with the opening of Liverpool 2.
A long covered marquee walk way led guests out onto a covered platform which was all purpose built and designed by SK infront of the new L2 cranes. The port was officially marked open with a huge firework and pyrotechnic show that was designed by SK Events and a carefully selected special effects company using shipping containers to keep within the theme of the event.
To celebrate this new opening guests were directed by SK staff who all managed every aspect of the event down another covered corridor and into a purpose built huge dining marquee with beautifully dressed tables and a staging area all organised and installed by SK Events. The team carefully selected a high calibre catering company for this special occasion that created a drinks and canape reception and 3 course meal with a show stopper dessert that was most impressive.
The night ended with a special guest performance from Alison Moyet that was chosen by Peel Ports but booked and arranged and managed by SK Events and guests were then transported by coaches to an after party where SK Events were then responsible for the clear up, breakdown and the de-rig of another hugely successful event.
TK Maxx – Liverpool Store Opening and ‘Christmas Road Show’ Campaign
SK Events were appointed the task of providing festive, themed, store-opening events that would dazzle, and provide entertainment for shoppers to experience throughout the Christmas period across Liverpool. Performing male and female models on stilts paraded throughout the utopian ‘Garden of Delights’, that boasted artificial grass, topiary trees and neon pink flamingos. Our colourful creation invited 300 select guests to sample haute canapes, irresistible cupcakes and champagne on arrival, before an exclusive evening of retail therapy. From such success, SK lead and directed the ‘TK Maxx Christmas Road Show’ across Ireland and Wales.
Taste Cumbria / BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend
A VIP event at the BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend to promote Cumbrian food and drink to some of the world’s most renowned musicians, including Lady Gaga, Plan B, The Foo Fighters, Tinie Tempah and the Black Eyed Peas.
Celebration of Style
The three-day event consisted of numerous pop-up events, showcasing international fashion, art, architecture and photography. We exhibited a fashion show, press-launches, photography and style exhibitions and various after parties and in-store activities across Liverpool. We also held an exclusive dinner party for select individuals to attend; hosted by fashion designer, Matthew Williamson, we created an ambient, majestic dining experience, set in the beautiful Knowsley Hall.
