The Scouse Lover’s Challenge – introducing a new take on tradition!

Love Food Hate Waste think it’s time to break with tradition, and show that there are other Scouse ingredients which work as brilliantly as the lamb and red cabbage combination, that the city knows and loves.

As part of the launch celebrations for the 2010 Liverpool Food & Drink Festival, headline event sponsors Love Food Hate Waste have ripped up the recipe book, commissioning two brand new takes on this iconic dish.

Joining forces with two of Liverpool ONE’s favourite eateries, The Chocolate Cellar and Lunya - Love Food Hate Waste will let the public decide as a sweet Scouse and a savoury Spanish-inspired Scouse go head to head!

The chefs at the Catalan Fusion Restaurant and Deli have taken their inspiration from the hearty Spanish stews packed full of fiery Chorizo and deep, complex flavours, whilst The Chocolate Cellar will be conjuring up a naughty but nice offering, containing a delicious mix of chocolate, cream and leftover dessert goodies.

Which of these dishes is worthy of being crowned ‘The New Scouse?’

Find out as the sweet vs. savoury versions fight it out in Liverpool ONE (on the astroturfed area on School Lane) on Wednesday 2nd June 2010 from 12.00pm, with the biggest Scouse sampling session the city has ever seen as Love Food Hate Waste let the discerning Liverpool public decide! So if you are at Liverpool ONE that day, don't forget to pop over and see us.

Don’t worry if you miss the Challenge Day, both versions will be available to taste at this year’s Liverpool Food & Drink Festival launch day, which takes place in Sefton Park on Sunday 12th September and is followed by a week long series of events and themed activities within bars and restaurants located around the city.
