Liverpool based event management and publicity consultancy SK Events have won an impressive contract to promote Cumbrian food and drink to the world’s biggest musicians including Lady Gaga and The Black Eyed Peas at Radio One’s Big Weekend.
SK Events, who are organisers of the annual Taste Cumbria Food Festival, will be serving up the very best produce to big name performers and Radio 1 crew this Saturday and Sunday (May 14 and 15) in Carlisle, as they dine in a specially-built Yurt complex located in the backstage VIP area during the two day event.
Director at SK Events Denise Harris said: “We are thrilled to have been able to link together some of the nation’s best food producers and high calibre chefs with such a massive event on the music calendar. “Bringing the Taste Cumbria brand to Radio 1’s Big Weekend is very exciting for everyone involved and we cannot wait to see what the world’s biggest musicians think of what we have to offer.”
Partnering Taste Cumbria in this incredible culinary showcase is von Essen hotels, which SK Events have also brought on board. The brand is a private collection of luxury country house hotels, which include the Royal Crescent hotel in Bath, and Cliveden in Berkshire as well as top Cumbrian properties, The Samling and Sharrow Bay.
SK Events have welcomed the involvement of chefs from the fourteen-time Michelin- starred Sharrow Bay. The chefs will show off their culinary expertise and cook for VIP’s in the five-star yurt, preparing dishes with a distinctly Cumbrian flavour, matched with contemporary cooking methods.
Drawing music lovers from all over the nation, BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend is the UK’s biggest free ticketed festival and 40,000 music fans will be able to enjoy performances from international artists including, My Chemical Romance, Plan B, Foo Fighters, Tinie Tempah and Ellie Goulding.
